Some forms accept only JPG, some apps want PNG, and many websites save images as WebP or AVIF that older software cannot open. This tool converts between them in your browser: choose an image, pick JPG, PNG or WebP, and download a file that is checked to really be in that format, not just renamed.
How to use it
- Choose an image (JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP or GIF), or up to 50 at once: each gets the same settings, and they download together as a ZIP.
- Pick the format you need: JPG, PNG or WebP.
- For JPG and WebP, adjust the quality if you like (92% is the default).
- Select "Convert", check the report, then download.
Options explained
JPG
Accepted almost everywhere, including government and exam portals. Small files for photos. Has no transparency, so see-through areas are filled with white.
PNG
Lossless and keeps transparency. Best for screenshots, logos and graphics with text; photos become large files.
WebP
Smaller than JPG at the same quality and keeps transparency. Supported by all current browsers, but some older apps and portals do not accept it.
Quality
For JPG and WebP. Around 90% looks the same as the original; lower values make smaller files. To reach a specific KB limit, use Compress Image.
Example
- Input: A 1.8 MB PNG screenshot with a transparent background
- Settings: JPG, quality 92%
- Result: A 300 to 400 KB JPG with a white background, same pixel size
Limits and troubleshooting
- HEIC photos from iPhones cannot be opened by most browsers yet, so they are not supported. iPhones usually convert to JPG automatically when you upload or email a photo.
- Animated GIFs become a single still image (the first frame).
- Location and camera details (EXIF) are not copied into the converted file.
- Converting a JPG to PNG does not restore detail lost to JPG compression; it only changes the container.
Questions
Is the transparent background kept?
Yes. PNG supports transparency, so see-through areas stay see-through.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers.
Can I just rename a file from .png to .jpg?
Renaming does not change the data inside, and many portals check the real format and reject it. This tool re-encodes the image and then confirms the format from the file itself.
